New House at Newport-on-Tay
Fife

WT Architecture have developed designs for a new house near Newport-on-Tay, which will allow its occupants to enjoy the ever-changing views overlooking the Firth of Tay and draw the eye across the water to nearby Dundee. The house is positioned in a gently sloping parkland setting; sitting comfortably into the gentle slope of the site, against a backdrop of mature woodland. On approach, the house is overtly closed down and private but opens up on the south west elevation, enhancing both the visual and physical connections to the surrounding landscape. The building’s orientation affords itself the most of the spectacular views but also helps to minimise its visual impact from other areas of the parkland with its low profile.

The house is designed to be primarily all on one level, to make circulation as accessible as possible to anticipate the potential future needs of the clients. The exception to this is a spare bedroom, ensuite and store on the lower ground level which can be accessed internally as well as externally. This area could be later adapted to include a kitchen should a carer need to stay more permanently in the future.

Work commenced on site in mid July 2017, led by main contractor Robertson & Smart Builders Ltd.
