New Project - Old Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, Edinburgh

We are really looking forward to working with the Congregation and community of Old Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Edinburgh to undertake a feasibility study into improvements to their Church Hall and catacombs. Old Saint Paul’s is an often overlooked architectural gem, tucked between closes in Edinburgh’s Old Town in the heart of the World Heritage Site, with the tall alter gable overlooking Waverley Station.  We will be looking at ways to improve the connection to the street and closes and making a welcoming arrival space, as well as options for reorganising the street/basement level to accommodate a whole range of functions from church hall, offices and meeting spaces to occasional cafe, creche and Sunday School.

Funding Awarded

We are delighted for the people of Camuscross and Duisdale on the Isle of Skye, as they have now received confirmation of their £712,000 funding pot from Coastal Communities Fund. This is the last piece of the puzzle that will now allow this special building to slowly start appearing out of what is currently only an innocuous area of boggy land.

New Forth Bridge Commission

We are thrilled to announce that WT Architecture have been appointed by Network Rail as Architects on the team to develop detailed design proposals for the Forth Bridge Experience. Our team will be led by world-renowned Engineers, Arup, with The Paul Hogarth Company as Landscape Architects, and Turner & Townsend as Quantity Surveyors.

Last year we worked with Network Rail to develop the brief for new visitor facilities and access to the Forth Bridge, coming up with some very broad concept proposals, an example of which is featured in the image above. We are delighted to receive this new commission, which will see us take the project through to Planning and Listed Building application stage. The Forth Bridge Experience will consist of a Visitor Centre in North Queensferry beneath the Fife Tower, with hoist access to the top of the Bridge, and a Reception Centre for a Bridge Walk from South Queensferry.

The Priory Church & Arts Venue

On Tuesday 4th November WT Architecture presented outline designs for a new arts centre at the Priory Church, South Queensferry. This follows on from the first community workshop we hosted at the start of August, which sought the views of community members and parishioners on providing new facilities for the Church and wider community.
