WT Architecture is a busy practice of 10 Architects and assistants, based just outside of Edinburgh in South Queensferry, with a studio on the old harbour overlooking the Forth Bridge. We have a broad portfolio of projects including community and visitor buildings, with a large part of the studio’s work being on highly bespoke domestic projects often within sensitive historic built environments or challenging landscape settings. Most of our work is in Scotland.
Our studio is a welcoming and informal work environment, where collegial support and staff wellbeing are highly valued. The studio is also easily accessible from Edinburgh by bus, train or car.
We are looking for a personable and organized Studio Manager to join our team, Monday - Thursday, 9am- 5.30pm. The successful applicant will be working from the studio alongside our architectural team.
Core responsibilities will include:
Assisting the management team in providing administrative oversight of practice procedures, policies, subscriptions and quality assurance. This includes project databases, printing and postage.
Financial support to Director including monitoring cashflow documents, invoices and supplier payments whilst liaising with bookkeeper and accountant on tax and accounting.
Support for practice promotion including awards submissions, website updates, press releases and public procurement adverts.
Providing support on social media content including updating the social media strategy for Instagram
HR support to Director including annual leave, payroll and pensions, recruitment and new staff orientation.
“Front of House” handling of incoming communications and enquiries.
Client/customer relationship management.
Looking after the Studio premises including organisation, maintenance, utilities, supplies and insurances.
Digital and physical filing management.
Diary coordination and events organising.
Coordination of external consultant input, appointments and payment.
We are looking for someone who has good experience with the range of tasks listed above, and ideally with a background within architecture, engineering or a similar art and design industry.
We don’t expect candidates to have architectural qualifications, but we are looking for someone who will share our passion for exceptional design and a willingness to learn more about the professional services we provide. Experience within communications or marketing is also desirable, but not necessarily required.
Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work collaboratively as well as under their own initiative. Excellent IT literacy is essential, ideally using Apple systems. The successful candidate must be competent in the use of spreadsheets for financial planning and record keeping. Some knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software would also be an advantage.
