THE BOATHOUSE
A secluded space for retreat and reflection
The Boathouse involved the meticulous refurbishment and expansion of an old loch-side boathouse, alongside the creation of a new studio and bothy. The studio sits lightly above the original stone walls, its roof echoing the form of the original pyramidal slate-tiled roof. From its elevated position, it captures expansive views across the water to the woodland beyond. Clad entirely in Thermopine that will silver with time, and lined within by warm ash-veneered surfaces, the studio nestles into its woodland setting, surrounded by tall ash trees and cradled in the branches of an ancient oak.
