ARCHITECTURAL ASSISTANT

Mikele joined WT Architecture as a part 1 Architectural Assistant in August 2023 after graduating from Edinburgh College of Art where she completed her undergraduate studies.

During her studies, Mikele particularly enjoyed studio projects which focused on co-housing and experimenting with ‘waste’ materials to develop alternative architectural interventions. Her final year project proposed the adaptive reuse of one of Edinburgh’s most recognised 70’s building into a community growing and learning garden for the surrounding community to use and learn about different growing practices.

Mikele joined the practice to learn about how architectural practices can approach sensitive landscapes and contexts and develop her architectural knowledge and skills. She is currently working on the early stages of several projects and is excited to see how these progress over the next year.

Outside the studio Mikele loves to play Netball and go for walks with friends. She shares the studio’s love for Scotland’s islands and Highlands as a result of growing up with very keen camping parents. Inspired by oxidised textures found in rural, coastal landscapes, Mikele also produces her own art works which look at the effect of the elements over time on human-made objects.
